Sansui AU-D9, channel not working

Hi guys, I've had a power cut at home (one of the bad ones, where power comes and goes) and though it was turned off, I see my Sansui AU-D9 stopped working on one channel. I'm still not sure if it's related. Both this amp and a Yamaha were connected to a speaker switch.

At first the Yamaha didn't seem to work either (didn't get the protection "click" on start) but it finally did. However, the Sansui is still failing on the right channel, I tried connecting the speakers directly but no change (the speakers work ok with the Yamaha).

Any easy check that you can think of for a newbie non electronics guy like me? Thanks!

I have been thinking about this, and I can't think of any way your AU-D9 could be damaged - losing a channel - while it is powered off. Unless something about the speaker switch doesn't agree with the AU-D9 speaker terminals both being 'hot' - i.e. neither is at ground potential and should never be grounded.

note to self: don't despair, check the basics! it was a BAD AUX RCA connector.. The right channel (red connector) lost the metallic shield and.. so, there was no right channel music.

You are absolutely right, @Hyperion! It was the unexpected thing above.. Thank God I disconnected it or I would have spent all day testing out with the same thing.. Bad, bad cable, indeed.

Yeah thanks! I can't find the trace of metal inside, but a new cable worked ok. I have to find better cables, definitely..
