Sansui AU-D9 goes into protection mode as soon as I

John, indeed, I first replace the few parts that have been corroded by the glue and the 22pF capacitor underneath the board and see if this cures the problem of the amp going into protection mode when set to "phono"
 
I think the thought that this activity might be the start of a 'mass reconditioning' activity was very likely prompted by my suggestion to check for other 'Black Flags' and audit the amplifier for them. :thumbsup:

I apologise to P. Hagerman (and other posters in this thread) for my post that might have lead people to this conclusion here. :(
