Hello all

Got a really clean AU2200, poped the cover and is mint.
But no sound, 2 blown fuses and one Sansui STK016 and one unbranded.
Think l know the problem, proberly both blown.

How can l test?
Is there a workaround?
Or just part it out.

STK-016 is not a transistor. It is a power amplifier module IC. You can try eBay to find a new one.

The same STK016 module is used in Sansui 441. Available brand new nos (branded sansui) on ebay. Not bad price.

Yeh should have said module, and l dont trust the ones on ebay.

Has any body thought of adapting a LM3886 or simaler?

I've not used the Sansui branded STK016 presently listed on eBay myself, but others here on AK have in rebuilding AU-2200's and 221's, and they are apparently genuine FWIW. The listing has good reviews, so it doesn't appear they are failure prone fakes. Just putting that out there, I'm not the seller, nor do I have any financial interest in the sale or those parts.

45VDC rails are too much for chipamps, however I would use these ones.

STK015 is full amp - STK0050 is just an output stage, so won't work here...
Many chipamps can be run off 45 volts single supply (cap coupled output).

The LM3886 will run on 84v the STK016 54v.
So its not working hard, will require more thought.

l have a email to a firm who had Sanyo STK's here in Australia that l used last time l did one of these.
Hopefully he will have a pair left.

If l had a labeled internal diagram l could make from scratch.

Retiring in 8 days so will have some time on my hands.

Looks doable, just need to make sure the orginal Sansui power supply doesnt need to be completly reworked, inputs and out puts wont change to much??

or fit a class D power supply of more power and get 50w out of each channel.

This could be really fun, until the magic smoke leaks out.

There's a guy on diyaudio that sell some very good sounding modules (FFA001V3) inexpensive stuff, they have their own power supply, I have mounted them on a HK330B and Pioneer SA-500, I think that Sansui have more space, a 150W or 300W AU-2200 would be awesome and fun!

Or maybe one of those ICE modules of parts express too.

Ok got onto it today, shorted track, new fuses and its back on deck.
Still has mismatched STK's but sounds balanced and you cant adjust them anyway.
Wont do anything else its just too clean.

l'll run it few more hours give it a clean and flip it.
Spread the Sansui magic :)

l have retired now so, will keep a eye out for a few more that needs some love.
Plan to go to heaps of car shows as well.

regards Bruce

Beware of NOS anything on eBay. Lots of counterfeits out there.

True. With the caveat that less common pieces like STK016 have a much greater chance of being genuine. They're more difficult to fabricate, and the market for them is smaller. I'd probably chance it with one of those.
It wasn't that long ago that were still getting genuine STKs from B&D Enterprises (RIP).
