Sansui Eight Deluxe - What to expect??

Dear Sansui devotees,

I am picking up a Sansui Eight Deluxe this coming Friday.

The unit is in great kosmetic condition and it is supposed to be working.

So what kind of sound signature can I expect?

I already have an Au9900A, G7000 and a Fisher X100 and it will play through a set of Tannoy Arden HPD 385.

It's not going to sound like any of those, in my opinion. It will be closest to the AU-9900A, but will have a warmer sound.

Clean, clear, bold and will become your favorite for some reason. Mine is my everyday receiver with my Onk TX8500MkII.

Delicate highs, speedy, punchy. Not as rich or expanded in the mid as some older designs, but more hifi sounding.

It was top of their top of the line receiver.

I received The Eight yesterday.

It is non-functional. Relay is not engaging. Not what I had hoped for, but I have spoken to my my technician, he is sure he can fix it.

But I’ll have to wait until fall.

I will repost when I know more.
