Anybody comment on the sound/build quality of a Sansui SE-7 ? Can it be used like a preamp too ? Sure would look good with the matching AU series amp and tuner combo i soon hope to score.

I am using a SE-7 eq with an AU-719, TU-717, AX-7 and SC-1110. Love the way it looks with that system and the build quality is not bad at all. Soundwise, well, I usually bypass it and just use it for eye candy. It will add some good clear highend if needed, but for bass the AU-719 usually needs no help. In defense of the whole system, I know I have high freq hearing loss so the eq helps sometimes.

Hope this did ya some good.

Hmmmm, you probably could use it as a pre, but I think you would be happier if you get a decent looking AX-7 from the Bay and use it for a pre. I have 2 of em and I'm thinking about using one for left channel and one for right channel. Probably no actual benefit there but it makes the system look more confusing and helps keep my girlfriends 17 year-old daughter away from my stereo!
:D :D :D :D

Graet, thanks for info. I have a really poor room for acoustics and NEED some equalization. I have tried MANY receivers and integrated amps and just can't seem to get the "right" amount of mid and upper range.

You would like that eq for mid and upper range. Hope you get one and do well with it.

I have an SE7 which, in spite of a slightly noisy volume control, performs beautifully. I use it on a regular basis because my new preamplifier, designed by "high-end audio priests", lacks tone controls. Now I can easily adjust poor recordings.
If I were you, I'd certainly buy it.
