Sansui FR-5080s

Sansui table.jpg Just purchased an FR-5080s for $150. Beautiful table, cosmetically sound. Major issue is the platter won't turn off. Just keeps spinning. The auto functions, start, cut, return all work but when you select "stop" the cue arm returns then starts again without the platter turning off. What could be the issue here? Worth the money to get this in tip-top shape?

Also, any thoughts on the difference between the 5080 and the 5080s ??

I have an FR-4060 that does the same thing.Took it apart three times and can't find the problem.It's a nice table that I would like to get working again,maybe someone will chime in with a fix.

The most likely culprit may be the micro switch inside, near the timing motor.

See service manual and try to locate, clean up or replace.

Servicing the mciro switch may restore that function. :idea:
