So I have been offered a sansui stack consisting of a b-55, c-77, and t-5 for 40 bucks. Don't really want to take it if its not worth it. I would use in in place of my 10 year old cheap Sony STR-DH100 powering my two KLH model 5s (8 Ohms and i think 80 Watts).

I am anything but an audiophile but I know i'm not getting what my dad was getting out of the KLH M5's when he had them set up through his receiver.

Any help or knowledge is greatly appreciated.

If you're looking to upgrade, on the cheap, you might start checking out some thrift stores. Lot's of people give perfectly good equipment to charity's simply because they don't want to deal with trying to sell it. Not gonna promise you'll find super high grade stuff (although some have), but you might just find something better than you have now.

Many thrift stores allow you to return purchased items for store credit (ask first), with the receipt of course. Buy it, try it, return it if you don't like it (or it doesn't work which sometimes happens). Use the store credit to do it again.
