Sansui G-7000 Protection Light

Hey Folks,

I'm working on a G-7000 that is working perfectly. The owner swears up and down that the power light should switch from red to green depending on whether it is in protect mode but this one stays red. The relay clicks as expected and the thing sounds perfect. Idol current and voltage are set correctly. The LED in this machine is red but the ones the owner is finding on eBay are green. And from what I can see, this is the original LED. Is it possible that it was replaced? Is it possible that there are more than one version of the receiver? Any thoughts?

Thx
Matt

My g-7000 and G-5700 goes from red to green. Did you do any work to it.

I referred to the schematic, here is the power LED - just one diode junction - it comes on when it sees +30V from the regulator circuit. Also the same approach reveals that neither the the G-5700, G-6700 or G-7700 has a bi-colour protection LED.

Even if Sansui got the wrong symbol for the power LED, the circuitry for the LED doesn't offer any provision for bi-colour operation.

This is a real puzzler - every indication that I can find says its single colour (green) - but we have people swearing blind that it's bi-colour!

I am happy to be proved wrong on this, and I have only ever seen one G-7000, I have a vague recollection while working on it, thinking it would be nice if the LED were bi-colour - but that is all I have on this.
