Sansui G-9700 Exposed!!!!

Brudha said:
The flack you've taken isn't based on the assumption of the G-9000 besting the G-9700. It's based on you saying the G-9700 is crap overall. It's still better than probably all the Pioneers, Marantz, Rotel, Concept, etc.

The G-9000 takes the cake over the G-9700 AND just about ANY other vintage receiver ever made.

Try and just name one and I'll tell you the G-9000 spanks it like nobody's business..........

Bruda - I've got a G-9000 that I listen every night. So, I am in COMPLETE AGREEMENT with you that it's awesome. And, I never said the G-9700 was "crap overall", just not in the same league as the G-9000.....and, there ARE some other non-Sansui Receivers that I like better as well:

Pioneer SX-1250*/1280*/1980
Marantz 2385/2500/2600
Kenwood KR-9600/9050*
Hitachi SR-2004*
Concept 16.5*
Rotel RX-1603*

(* presently own)

All of these are better built and have better power supplies. External cosmetics is a matter of personal taste, but the G-9700 has too much plastic for my liking.

If you love your G-9700, I don't fault you at all. Soundwise, there's nothing to complain about. I'm just VERY DISAPPOINTED that Sansui didn't move up a notch or two from the G-9000 in designing it.

Sansui :music: G-9000 beats them ALL!!

I don't buy 'em to look at the inside, I buy 'em to listen! :thmbsp:

so meh if the build quality isn't quite as good, it's still leaps and bounds ahead of modern piss crap.

This build quality debate reminds me of the Cerwin Vega thread, in which this post basically sums up the general theme of that general defense........:thmbsp:

Darn!!! I just got the headphone jack on my G-9000 replaced and I was looking forward to listening to it last night. But, lo and behold......the Balance is now off and I can hear a slight hum and some hiss on the left side. Any ideas what would cause this?

You might want to live on the wild side, step into the Sansui forum, and post this problem....

Tell them if you replaced it with an original or some kind of a generic.

Here are pictures of my G-9700 with Analog \ Digital on and functioning as intended. Also includes my G-9700 along with the system it is connected to.Sansui G9700a.jpg Sansui G9700b.jpg
