Sansui G5000 Preventative Maintenance Suggestions

I promise that, before creating this thread, I pored over the Exclusively Sansui posts and Google to see if I could find something similarly specific and couldn't. That said, if I missed something, feel free to just drop a link.

Now for my question. As a young relative novice I'm just getting into this hobby more seriously. I've replaced a few filter caps and recapped a few boards on other receivers for practice, but now I have a G5000 that, for some reason, is very special to me and I want to keep it that way.

So if I want to dive in on some preventative maintenance, where are the important places to start?

So far I've determined these:
- Replace the big filter caps, as the current ones are bulging pretty noticeably. (Suggestions here?)
- Replace the notoriously suspect VD1212 varistors with dual 1N4148s in series
- Replacing a 1000uf 63v cap that appears to be leaking.

So any suggestions on additional "known issues" to address or even specific parts to swap in, would just be a huge help. Thanks in advance!

Check around for the dreaded Sansui glue, which has been known to cause corrosion to the leads on the caps and the leads of the nearby components. Doing a full cleaning, lubing and sealing your switches and pots is also a wise move since you are already inside. See the attached instructions from Caig, who makes Deoxit.

I use D100, F100 and Shield to seal my work instead of Gold because Florida's humidity make it a corrosive environment. I use the 100% because it has no solvents that might damage switch and pot parts. I bought a bottle of each about 8 years ago and I still have plenty left even today. Have fun with your big G.
