Sansui G6000

I have a chance to pick up a Sansui G6K for $75.00 in pretty nice shape overall. Just the plastic dial bezel has a pretty good scrape on it which I can rub out with wet sanding and buff.
Is this a pretty good deal?
Thanx,
Bud

If you think the bezel scrape can be polished off and it's in good working conditon. Fully operational, FM/AM working with stereo indicator, meters, etc it's a great deal for $75.

You can expect to pay more than twice that otherwise.

I got mine for $140 locally only because lights were out.

Except I'm unsure about the power.
It has a "220V" sticker on the back but a standard 120v plug. I plugged it in and all lights and meters are operating but no sound out the back.
Is this possibly wired @ the Xformer for 220? Haven't popped it open yet.

Well,
I got it cleaned up and the voltages adjusted. I took wet/dry and a buffer and hit rid of the big gouge in the faceplate. Replaced the burned out bulbs with Rat Shack generic 7.5v bulbs. Looks real nice now. The only problem I am having is if I turn up the volume any more than half then the protection relay drops out. I am going to investigate a but further. I notice that when I start to wind it up the lamps start to dim especially when it is thumping the bass.
I'm not sure what it might be other than the PS getting weak

Anyone else have a possible clue?
Thanx,

Do you have the loudness button pressed or the bass turned up when it goes into protection at half volume?

Check the DC at the speaker terminals again.

^ While you're checking settings, also check to make sure the 4CH-NR Adaptor, Tape Monitors, Mute are off.

I can't imagine why you would need to go more than half way on the Volume knob.

Revisited the adjustments. Got them set as you guys helped direct me. I have a good, steady 0.00VDC @ the speaker terminals. I adjusted the bias to 4.5mV spot on. I let it run for about a half hour then turned the volume knob back to minimum and let it "bleed" back down for 15 min or so and checked them all again. The DC offset was still at 0.00 but the bias was closer to 12mV so I tweaked it back down a bit. Seems real stable. I guess that this 60 watt receiver had a hard time pushing the Cerwin-Vega 12T's at a higher rate but anything less than half sounded great! If I took out some of the bass then I could damn near wind it all the way up without going into protection.

I guess it's okay. It is really a nice receiver and made really well.

Thanx,
Bud

Yep with the loudness engaged most Sansuis are at full power at about 1 oclock.
Ya got a non original mic mixing knob there, but it's still a score!

Thanx, DC! Now I am actively searching for that knob. It's a #531-9090 which is the same as the balance knob.
Kinda hard to scrounge up :(
