Sansui G8700DB missing F-3074 Boards

Hi All,

I was curious if I could tap into your knowledge to try to fix this issue I am having.

I recently acquired a G8700 DB that was missing the Amp Boards (F-3074). From what I know replacements are impossible to find, but I was curious if anyone has rebuilt these before? Or knows of anyone who rebuilds them? I’d like to get this unit up and running while I search for authentic replacements.

Any help would be great.

The service manual generally shows the PCB layout of the major boards, so you could conceivably use those as a starting point for the layout artwork to have a board fabrication outfit produce new boards (you'd have to populate the components on the repro pcb's yourself). short of fidning a parts donor, thats about your only option to return this unit to service. That, or just fitting pre made/kit type amp modules, which is a piss-poor work around and would mean the essence of the original design is lost.

The good news is that having boards made is easier than ever using one of the online outfits that offers the service, though it is still a bit of work to get to the point of fabrication. Given the current valuations on the big G receivers, it's probably worth the cost and effort involved.

I would be using the circuit board layout in the manual to make a new board. Its very easy these days to have a board made.
You could possibly get a few extras run off and you might be able to sell them to other members.

I’ve been doing board layout for 30 years. Also, I get boards made for about $30-50 for 5, with shipping.

Yah. I’ve been struggling a bit. Still kinda new to all this. Any help would be appreciated. Know if any solid resources let me know

No sweat-I’m very busy with life, too!

Chances are, you’re not going to just find a CAM file package somewhere online to have these boards fabricated.
Even if you did find some, I wouldn’t trust them without very careful examination of the CAM files.

From your posts above, I see that your unit is missing these boards-that’s unfortunate.
An example board, even a non-functioning one that is intact, is best for reproducing a board assembly.
The outline of the new board and the mounting hole locations HAVE to fit the unit’s chassis.
Using only images of the board layout is possible for the rest of the layout, but component fit could become an issue.
