Sansui G871db (G8700db) cracked PCA

Recently bought a G871db that would not come out of protection. Actually, the Safety LED never lights up upon power ON. But the front panel lights all work. WEIRD.

Upon on inspection deep dive, I discovered the F-3072 ( protection PCA). Was cracked. It appears the unit has been dropped, the bottom cover was dented, to where it touched the tops of the 2 protection relays. The “touch” was so much it cracked the PCB around thd relays.

I have eyes peeled tor an eBay replacement. But until then, I want to give my best shot at a repair job. I can handle repairing the broken traces etc. But have never “glued” a PCB before.

There are tons of “glued” out there. Can forum help with recommendations??? Thanks

I had good experience with cyanoacrylate based glues (superglue) but find one that doesn't mist/cloud surrounding surfaces. Loctite has some clear curing superglue. after gluing you'll need to short the cracked traces. I find component leg cutoffs work best. solid copper wires are better but sometimes we just dont have them available.

Good tips! Thanks pen…

Thanks penmarker for the good tips. I took your advice. I finished the board repair and bypassed the cracked runs. Everything checks OK. Tomorrow, i’ll solder it back into the G871 and see how it behaves. Fingers crossed.

Not pretty but hopefully functional till I get a replacement PCA.
