Sansui G9000 vs. Marantz 2500 Question

Hello,
I have read more then once about the Torodial Power Transformer problems
in receivers like the Marantz 2385 ,2500 or 2600.
I also notice that the Sansui G 9000 has the same transformers - is this also a common
failure problem for the G9000 ? If not what would be the difference ?
Thanks,
John

Transformer failure is not an issue with the big Sansui receivers. I 'hear' that is it 'supposed' to be a problem with the big Marantz units, but I have no firsthand experiance with it occuring (the only 2600 I've ever seen is here at the moment, and was sent to me with a supposedly bad transformer. In reality it was a blown soft-start resistor, and some 'creative' wiring by a previous tech).

torodial transformer

I have them in a BA 3000, CA 3000, G 8000 and an AU 9900 and never had an issue with transformers.
Some think it's the best for high end audio, I don't know about that....
Echowars is the resident expert here, he says not an issue then it's probably true.
I don't have any Marantz stuff.
Sansui started as a transformer supplier before they made audio gear, that may have some bearing on the subject.

I have a 2500 here with a bad transformer, it is shorted within. It was the victim of drastic over-fusing (30 amp automotive fuse:nono::tears:) and was dumped on my stoop.

You gave it to me a while back (thanks), I got a quote on a re-wind and it seemed pretty reasonable. I've been dragging my feet on this project, but I hope to be sending it off this summer.
