Sansui Preamps & Integrateds

I tried my AU 717 integrated as a preamp with my Yamaha PC2002's and I'm really liking the sound. It has that Sansui tubey warmth that smoothes out the high end. I'm running the Yamaha's bridged @ 700 wpc with my JBL 250ti's. Does anyone have experience with both the AU 717 and Sansui preamps?
Can the AU 717 sound as good or similar as a dedicated Sansui preamp?
Also which preamps should I keep my eye out for?

Thanks, Bob

I just took out my BA/CA-2000 out of the rotation (they need a cleaning). In its place I put my recapped AU 717. I very much like the AU 717 but I will admit - I prefer the CA-2000.

I have used the CA-2000 as a preamp in front of a Pioneer SX-1280 and the CA-2000 was superior.

I have not used the AU 717 as a preamp in front of anything so I can't comment on that but I am a big fan of the CA-2000.

I'll bet it was. The Pioneer's sound too sterile for my tastes. I have a Spec 1 pre that I tried, although I think it is ailing a bit, it sounded too shrill. After that (last weekend) I tried the 717 and was very pleased. I have a couple of leaky caps that need attention on it though. I was lucky enough to aquire the 250ti's in Sept. locally and love them dearly. With Yamaha's bridged they sound incredible.

Thanks :thmbsp:

I like the CA-F1 myself. Properly restored and tweaked here and there, it is quite good. One of the quietest pre-amps I have heard. Pretty dam hard to come by though.....
