Sansui QR-4500 / question

I recently bought a nice Sansui QR-4500. power cord is missing. appears to accept a standard 2-pin cord, of which I have several, none fit. does this unit require a cord peculiar only to Sansui or this model in particular? any answers appreciated.

I believe it's the same one used for the QR-6500, Eight, and others of that vintage with removable power cords. I heard some having success with old shaver cords that might need to be shaved a little near the plug to make it fit.

Yup ... those cord types are pretty much exclusive to Sansui in the audio world. I got lucky and used an old cord for a kitchen mixer. Pin size and spacing was good, and I just had to razor blade down the connector end so it'd fit the Sui socket.

What you can do if all else fails is use a couple of female side of bullet connectors. Crimp those to the right size and slip them on the pins. Wrap them with black tape to completely insulate them, then keep wrapping till there's enough to hit the sides of the receptacle so they don't slip out.

Or plan b ... slip the connectors on tight, then just hot glue the suckers in place. On the bright side, you'll never have to worry about losing the cord. <G>

How do you like your QR4500? That was my daily driver for 20 years. Recently upgraded to a QRX9001, but I miss the dual A/B switches and the pre out/amp in loop. One of the more versatile receivers out there - You can pretty much run a planet full of speakers with what you got.

Thanks for answers on the power cord. Will try suggestions. As to question ~ how I like it, is a lovely thing, but haven't got to try yet because of missing cord.

some people have found cords with a plug that fits in goodwill shops etc .
i have one or 2 plugs here that fit but unfortunately are now obsolete .
