Sansui QRX-7500 -> Modern External Components

Having fought many attempts by "REDACTED" to Garage Sell my vintage memory laden QRX-7500 reciever, and speakers, I've finally set it up.

Question(s) I have for those more knowledgeable on input connections to the QRX-7500 than I :

1) Can I hook up a Kenwood CD-203 player to the Phono 2 connection without blowing up any thing?

2) Can I hook the Audio from a Smart TV into the AUX without damaging anything?

Phono input is for turntables only. It has a preamp to bring the output of the turntable up to an appropriate level before sending that signal along to the control amp stage (volume, tone controls, etc.) so, to put it succinctly, don't hook the CD player up there. You can use an AUX (auxiliary) input or a tape monitor input for the CD as both are line level inputs.

The tv audio output is also line level, so must also be hooked up to either an aux input or tape monitor. Since most receivers have only one aux in, the second of the two sources noted will need to go to a tape monitor input. By my recollection, the QRX-7500 has two tape monitor loops.

Spot on, I've a better understanding of what's coming in from the appropriate component. Back in the 70's there were only two "Inputee's" (Phone & Tape) so it was less 'challenging.'

Looks like the 7500 has 3 tape Inputs (not counting the DIN socket), and 2 AUX Inputs as well.

AUX is great for those but better yet you can use an external DAC to add digital inputs. I use a Maverick Audio D1 which adds optical, coaxial and usb to my setup.

Ok. Two auxiliary ins will be helpful, as you can use one for the CD and the other for the TV audio feed. That way, if you are connecting an EQ or other outboard processor (or a tape deck to make recordings) it can utilize the tape monitor loop, which makes a bit more sense. I don't own a 7500, and it's been a while since I've seen one in person so couldn't remember the exact complement of inputs that were provided.

Thanks RR - I'll have to look into those, still have a DVD Player to squeeze in, and decide on a turn table

Get a DAC and use the digital out of the CD player TV, and DVD player, coax/toslink you could even use the DVD player as a CD player and ditch the CD player....
