Sansui quad units

Hello,
I've been thinking of getting a Sansui quad unit to go with my G-8000. My question is... what is the difference between something like the QS-500 and the QS-1? It seems to me that maybe the QS-1 isn't an actual amplifier, and the QS-500 is? Any suggestions on which of the quad units are better than others? Thanks!

The QS-1 is just a synthesiser/decoder AFAIK. THe QS-500 has an amplifier for the rear channels. However, the both of these aren't the best for the 4 channel experience. THe channel separation is pathetic.

You want to look for the QS-800, or even better -The rare QS-800a. THe 800 series has a better amplifier. The 800a has a hybrid decoder that was the design that later led to the full blown vario-matrix decoder that sansui is famous for.

Don't get me wrong, the other two models are nice and good looking, but if you want a little more performance and better 4 channel experience then the 800a is where its at as far as adapters go.

My customer has a QS-800a sitting in the garage, along with a Pioneer QD-240-1 demodulator, a Kenwood KA 7002, and Pioneer SX 525. I'm going to make him an offer to trade labor for the lot, including a 3D Acoustics 3D610B speaker system with a blown bass driver.

If he goes for it KCguy33, I'll be happy to pass it along.

I'll probably keep the KA 7002 and use the pre-outs on a Concept 2.0 for the front end.

Is the Pioneer worth working with?

A question on the QS 800A, does anyone know if you can bridge the front and rear amps?
