Sansui selected by Bose

Hi everyone. I have a question about some speakers I just bought. They're Bose ML1s, but they have the Sansui logo shown in the image, which I haven't been able to find anything about online. I also asked Gemini, and they told me the woofers are Carbonneau from a Zennith Allegro cabinet, and I'm completely confused. Does anyone have any information about them? Thanks in advance.

AI Overview

The "Sansui selected by Bose" tag refers to a historical line of stereo systems and receivers. In the late 1990s and 2000s, Bose distribution branches, including Bose Spain, curated specific packages. These combined high-quality Sansui receivers or amplifiers with Bose speaker setups (like the 301 or 901 Series) to offer consumers a bundled premium audio solution.

History of the Collaboration
  • Badge Engineering: In select international markets—most notably Europe (Spain) and parts of Asia—Bose partnered with traditional Hi-Fi manufacturers like Sansui to sell comprehensive home audio systems.
  • The "Selected" Badge: Products with this branding usually featured original Sansui engineering with specialized Bose ID tags, allowing users to run classic Sansui amplifiers matched to the spatial audio properties of Bose speakers.
  • Target Audience: This catered to audiophiles who wanted the robust, warm amplification of traditional Sansui equipment paired with the iconic, room-filling spatial sound of Bose direct/reflecting speakers.
