Sansui sign

Well?

This is a good question.

He makes them with all kinds of logos - anybody ever bought one?

Seems like he makes his $ on shipping.

I like it but I would like a fisher one with the bird, I also think it would look nicer in a frame of some sort the chain doesn't do it for me.

I've thought about buying one before but I'd like one with the light on the bottom so it can sit on top of my rack and not be hung from the wall.

I bet if you asked the seller, they could make one that way for you.

I saw one of his Paradigm signs in person. In dim or dark light it looks pretty good, obviously in daylight it just looks like a piece of etched glass. for $30 it's tempting.

Casey, Didn't you win a vintage Sansui sign a few months ago?

I bought one of the Kenwood signs and it's OK...not as cool as one of the old vintage display pieces but still pretty neat

Nope, another AK'er was bidding it, I learned that and stepped back.
I'm gonna give this a night's rest and decide. It isn't much money but it seems a little small.
I do want an original one, bet they got dumpstered when the shops closed up.:tears:

I have a Pioneer and Sony sign similar to these but not from this particular seller. They're nice and affordable if you don't have an original sign.

I have the Sansui sign from this seller. I agree the chain is a bit awkward as it is not very long or adjustable. Also, I wish the unit had a power button. It just turns on the moment you plug in it. Also, the power cord itself is not long at all so plan on using an extension cord.

Other than those three gripes, it is well made and really looks beautiful when it's on.

Also, it's not glass, it's resin and can scratch - and the scratches really show up when you turn it on!

I have one that says "Studio" with a pic of a microphone. Add a couple of lava lamps and you can add a cool looking 70's look to your system. As for the on/off switch, I have everything plugged into an Isobar so I can just turn everything on and off with one switch. This way you save wear and tear on the on/off switches to your equipment as well.

Well, it is coming from Australia. Doesn't seem too awful high, considering.

I've seen similar edge-lit signs. I wonder if that metal housing on top comes off? If so, you could put it on the bottom, and mount it in some kind of nice wooden frame/base you could make yourself, and it would look really nice sitting on top of your favorite receiver.
