Sansui SP-15 speakers?

Hi all

I just came across this forum while searching for information on Sansui vintage hifi equipment.Having owned many different vintage audio gear in the past, I'm now in the process of putting together a vintage hifi set beside the normal set i listen to. So far I've gathered a Luxman PD-289 turntable and Hitachi SR-903 receiver.
A couple of days ago I discovered a pair of Sansui SP-15 speakers for sale on the net. Do you have any specs for it? Like eg. dimensions, what kind of drivers used, weight etc. I've searched the net and haven't found much at all about this model. Maybe someone of you knows these speakers?

Welcome to AK! Although I don't know much about this model personally, it's a safe bet that if the speakers are in good condition, and the surrounds aren't rotted, then buy with your ears, and ignore the specs, IMHO. :)

What i forgot to mention is that i'm not able to check out these speakers myself, so i have to rely on the guy selling them (their up for auction here in Finland).
I do remember reading something about similar looking Sansui's with fullrange drivers&Alnico magnets. Was it common for Sansui to use these drivers, or was it only in their older speakers? The SP-15's do look great, like real furniture!

Hmmm, then you'll have to rely on the reputation of the seller. Do as much research as you can on him, and see if he's wlling to offer any type of return if you're not happy.. Any good seller will. :)
Full range drivers from Sansui? Most likely before my time, sorry. Hope this reply comes before the auction ends.

I was offered a pair of good looking ones today for 100 and declined. They are about the volume of A25s but different proportions. Vinyl cabs are very heavy for their size and have that lattice grill of course. Cloths surrounds I understand but I didn't bother pulling the grills because I wasn't interested at that price and they guy was a total jerk.
 
I have a pair of SP 10s, then jump to SP 30.....
The smaller speakers from this era were the bottom of the line for the time, those will be a small wood cabinet, with the fretwork grill. Probably 2 drivers, a tiny tweeter, and a midrange, likely Alnico magnets.
More a novelty item, maybe worth $30 if in excellent condition.
For a main setup I'd pass.
