First wanna say......if thread can be re-directed...thank you.
Trying to rebuild sansui sp-3005.
Squwakers in this speaker are 24ohm. Any help. Obviously no engineer. What are my options? Crossovers in this speaker are very unique. First thread as subscriber. Driver is fine. A lead on surround for this speaker would be helpful also.

Hi Vishane,

That's a rather rare Sansui speaker. (I didn't say it's great or valuable - just rather rare ;) ) They show up here every once and awhile, so you can probably find those posts in search.

What, exactly, do you want to know?

Sorry about delay.....

That would be awesome. Evidently these are pretty rare. Or any info on a foam kit that would work. Squwaker works. Foam is bad. Also any tips with this model would be cool. The cabinets are in great shape.

Foam kit won't be found, my 3005s have impregnated cloth surrounds, which should last forever. Look a bit closer, what seems to be wrong with yours?

My advice is remove all drivers and check them individually with a signal generator.

To disassemble first remove the crossove, then the drivers. Everything plugs into the crossover so no need to cut wires or solder. Make sure to take digital photos of the connections to help re-assembly.

The crossover switches are flaky, clean them well (both push buttons and mid/tweeter level switches) . Also replace the capacitors, it is a bit tedious with the amount of glue sansui used.

I had to make new cabinets for mine, yours look great!

Also, if you ever considered owning a tube amp, these speakers work really well with one.

Do you mean the 16cm squakers? It's strange they're all bad, make sure you rule out the switches in the crossover, and the level switches. Mine all needed cleaning, and the capacitors were bad too.

ps and a friend was going to help out by putting speaker glue around the rot...geez. he may have ruined them for good.
