Sansui speakers - need to choose one

Hey, folks. I am new to this forum, though I have been scouring its pages for your thoughts and advice for years.
I am in need of floor speakers and, unfortunately, it seems like a seller's market right now.
My eyes are on two sets of Sansui speakers: SP-70 (excellent condition - $150) and SP-2700A (good condition - $250) - condition of speakers is according to the seller.
From what I have read here the 2700A's are the superior speaker. However, the condition of each speaker set would render a speaker's reputation a moot point.
Speakers will be run by my Yamaha CR-1020.
When I go to take a look this weekend, what should I be looking for? Any advice is appreciated.
Listening to 70's/80's/90's rock, alternative and punk, Jazz, R&B, Blues, very little rap.
Room where speakers will be residing is 13'x13' with 8ft ceilings. Don't know if that is too much info.

Most Sansui speakers are not very popular.

I haven't heard all of them. However, the ones I have heard sounded mediocre at best.

To be honest, for what you listen to, I would look for a set of Cerwin Vega "D" series speakers, or maybe even ATs. The D3s (10" 3-way) D5s (12" 3-way) or AT-10s / AT-12s would suit your needs and receiver quite well in my opinion. You should be able to score a pair of any of these in the $2-300 range or less as well.

Plenty of haters will tell you to "avoid CV junk, they're only good for garage / party speakers, etc." but they can all eat a bag of d1cks. I have half a dozen sets and they all sound great to me.

List your location (can be general, does not need to be specific) and maybe others can give you an idea of what is available in your area.

I know that in my area I have bought much better speakers for less. Also consider that those speakers will likely need to be recapped if they have not yet been.

FWIW: The only CV's that don't make me want to cut off my ears and run away are the SL Series. They sound very different from earlier models.

RTally - I am in Chico, CA, about 80 miles north of Sacramento.

I have been hunting and researching for two months now. In the sticks where I live in northern California, there is not a lot of selection. I take that back... there is a selection but it comes at an unrealistic premium cost. I am trying to be patient, but my 24 year old Bose 2.2's don't sound the same when you take them from the office.

SP 70s are the way to go. I actually own a set and they are ass kickers. A clean 8in two way speaker without the Usual Sansui smeared sound. I recapped mine a few months ago.
