Sansui SPL-800

I was able to get a Sansui G-33000 today and the guy is throwing in a pair of SPL-800 speakers. Anybody have any experience with these speakers?
Are they keepers or should I find another home for them? I have another pair of Legacy. Thanks in advance....

Those are reputed to be Sansui's very best speaker, and are quite rare. Now this doesn't necessarily make them better than your legacy speakers, but it is certainly worth a try.
 
One of the speakers has a small hole in the grill covering and of course they are faded. I want to have them redone, looking for info on what the original factory color was? If you look at them now they look kind of black, but in the sunlight they look kind of a blue shade. Just want to get them back to factory color...

Well, it"s a one owner unit, and has been very well maintained over the years. I picked it up outside of Indianapolis and brought it home to Virginia over the weekend.It's a monster size unit and sounds like what I would expect from a high end G series unit. I have a G-9000DB that I bought while stationed in the UK back in 1979, so I know how great these units sound.

It would take a lot to be as good or better than the Legacy Focus SE's that I currently are running. I do intend to restore these Sansuis back to their original state, then I'll decide what to do with them....

Makes sense to me. The Legacies you own represent a considerable investment, and if they suit what you like in a speaker, it seems unlikely the Sansuis will be better.

I have 3 sets of the Legacy's, but I also have a set of Cerwin Vega 316-R's that I run with a Pioneer SX-1980 in my den. I think I'll set the Sansui SP-L800 up at my office and just drive them with the G-33000 that I got with the speakers, at least until I can come up with a better plan.

Depends on my mood, as stated above, the CV's are driven by my Pioneer SX-1980, The Legacy Focus SE's are being driven by my Marantz 2500. The other pair of Legacy I have ...the Studio HD's are in the master BR and being driven by my Sansui G-9000DB. The Sansui SP-L800 (for now) are at my office and will be hooked up to the G-33000...I also have a set of Klipsch RF-7II ( :mad: ) in their shipping boxes in my store room.
