Sansui SR-313 too fast.

Not much on there is there? Just that one board that I can see. Funny. Take a look at the service advisory. Probably the belt. I remember trying three belts before I found the right one for one I had. Now I have 6 or 7 belts of different sizes I can try. Left over from past mistakes. I recommend you clean and lube the capstan shaft and the platter receptacle. Be very careful not to get any lube on the belt, platter, or the capstan in the belt path.
You are one hundred percent correct. I’ve decided to return to this turntable again, hoping to make some progress. The grommet spacer trick seemed to only temporarily work for me. The transformer and frequency selector plate is missing. Could this possibly cause the fast speed? (56)

I don't see how a missing cover could affect the motor speed. There aren't that many options here. The motor, the belt, and the capstan. Unless your platter is not original. Check the platter to see if there are any identifying marks on it, and while you are there, I would clean the inside of the platter where the belt rides.

I double checked the service manual: I think there’s an adjustment screw for the belt guide. Will try adjusting tonight.

Sorry for the late response. I tested it, speed is less than 2% off. It’s actually a tiny bit slow now! But I didn’t spend too much time adjusting it however, just wanted to see if it made a difference. Not sure if moving the plate under the screw helped or the wider belt, but we’re on the right track. I think I’ve got it from here, thanks everyone! Who knew an extra ten minutes of work and a year of thinking it over would result in a fix :)

correct frequency is essential for speed of electromotors in this era! Also the correct or incorrect in your case, used for 50hz or ment for 60 hz capstan.

I double checked the label on this turntable, 100% meant for 60 hz. So maybe the transformer wasn’t needed due to this? Or possibly was removed prior to when I purchased it locally. Who knows, but surprisingly the fatter belt with adjustments of the belt guide position resolved this. Hoping to get the speed even closer to 33.3 rpm soon, fingers crossed.
 
I got a Sansui 4070 that is 117 volts 50/60 hz capable . However for the 50 or 60hz depending were you were going to use this TT, it came with two different drive belt capstans for mounting on the motor! One is standard factory mounted on the motor for the type of HZ market it was innitially sold; the other is stored secured in a clamp under the platter.

The transformer isn't required for North American models. Those snips from the service manual shows one version with a transformer and one without. It looks like they used it to bring 240v down to feed the motor so not applicable for you. The odd thing is they appear to have the same part # for the model.
 
One transformer / powersuply for two different AC voltages but also two different capstans on for 50 znd one for 60.HZ - or in socases for 70 hz. even - UK had 70 HZ in some pars of the country for example, like France, Egypt Italy Bangladesh, India, Isreal UK Span Itally Brasil with or without different voltage zones in one country alone. Thus same voltage, but still different cycles in and i say it again; the same type voltage region, can or could be, still the case and thus aproblem if wrong size capstan is mounted / used etc. So not every 'same' voltage region, used or still uges same HZ (cycles) neither!. I'm just saying.
 
Yes, different capstans for different frequencies. That's already been covered. AC synchronous motors "synchronize" their speed based on hertz. The transformer may or may not be required based on the voltage at the wall.
 
Ok and my point is thus this! Sometimes when no optional voltage or with switchable voltage models like in this case Sansui TT's were sold new or sold as vintage TT's sold 'online' or with households moved to other countries or regions with wrong type of capstan, or worse since new factory mounted with the wrong or in case of an optional additional castan for other cycles, that later is just missing missing since new or since a later date. Or a different motor mounted or different plint with non origional motor. Or wrong capstan mounted, or a 50 or 60 or 70 hz motor only mounted despite different hz or voltage even labeling on the plint than the TT is actually capable of. Not all Sansui motors were 50, 60 hz or 70HZ capable (aside if the correct capstan is mounted or not). And sudge a 50 only or 60 or 70 hz only motor will in wrong cycles region never run on time and loose torque wear / out wrong speed even with a correct capstan for that particulair HZ region. Also Sansui in the same period as my TT I uploaded, sold versions of the same TT even, with more modern motors and chassis, which were multi HZ or single HZ. And depending which Hz was fed into the table, that motor always run at correct speed with one and the same capstan factory mounted as intended. Like most modern belt driven TT's since decades
In short ive seen the above incorect labeling or wrong motor placed or just with wrong capstan in a turntable as sudge, been done and sold deliberatly even. I have been offered TT's here were I live in BC or bought online locally or from abroad and after I diagnosed the mistake or deliberate scrw as sudge and have returned or refused to buy that particail table. That again is my only point.
Hence all of the above can be the issue in this particulair case; and if it is not, it must be a shot or leaky motor cap, lack of lubrication or in this case wrong thin lub, or motor wear with or without indeed
to tigh rubbing or to big tight loose belt in this case thus to tight to small or rubbing cause its running to fast!

Course its not indeed, it can only be a wrong type motor and or wrong capstan mounted factory or afterwards than is labeled on this TT or wrong type voltage / HZ comming out of the used wallsocket tthan intended and i'm not trying to be rude, funny entertaining or a smartypants think know it all beter! I've litterly seen it all last 4 years. Old 117 volt Sansui table do run faster on 120 or 130 volts for example. My AC wallsocket should be 120 volts but fluctuates from 107 to 124 volts and on average of 122 volts. With old design / generation electro motors in TT or tape decks of all sorts, it can screw thing up. In my former home in the same street were I still live - although I switched appartments 6 months ago in the same street in Vancouver BC - my wallsocket outlet AC voltage even reached more times a day/night 131 to 132 volts!!!????!!! And that was with my power conditioner hooked up, without it was even worse!
