Sansui SR 4040 a real great table!

I put a line on the turntable forum. I am a sansui guy on amps and receivers . I have never had a Sansui turntable. I found a good deal on a Sansui SR 4040. I can not say enough good about this table. Solid the platter is so heavy it is unreal. It comes apart in two parts. Some one said it is similar to a Linn table of that day. I do not know how old it is. The cover is pristine as well as the whole top. The only flaw was a little on the veneer on the botom front. I put some renew and restore on it. The thing sounds so great just a real solid performer. I did not know Sansui made these kinds of turntables. For the price point I do not see how it can be beat. I will keep this one for sure.

Hey nice table both looks awesome. Compare to any thorens which is better sonicly. But in terms of look I like the sansui. I actually have a line on a sansui sr4050c at abt $110. Is it worth that kind of money?

Sansui Turntables

My Experience with a Sansui TT has been much the same as the posters. I was going to buy this Micro-Sieki DD-40 TT when I found my Sansui SR-717 for less than half as much cash. It came from and old Quadraphonic set-up so I was told the Pickering XUV Cart and D4500-Q Stylus had very little playing hours on it and I have encountered nothing to disprove that. The SR-717 is a very solid,well made Direct Drive/Manual Table. From what I understand the SR-717 was TOTL until the SR-929 came out. As you can gather I'm very pleased with this deck and love the way it sounds,and its simplicity in operation. I would recommend anyone with the chance to get a vintage Sansui TT to do so....

Congratulations on the Sansui SR 717 turn table.

That is a very well build turn table that should be graced with an appropriate cartridge like the Pickering.

Be careful of that D4500Q stylus!

hello sansui ppl,

here is mine, just got it today sr4050c still in its original box. need a lot of polishing and get it right moving. may i know the liquid to use for polishing the platter (darn soild), tonearm tube and etc....
ok open up the base and notice that all are damm awesome, motor are big, huge capacitor. but i notice that the alinement of the motor capstan and the belt holder is not in line, should i adjust the motor mounting or unscrew the capstan on the motor to get it right.
what are the things that i might starts first and whats the last???

there's one pc of solid round stanless thingy that i dont know what is for(on the pics with the capstan) can anyone advise please!!

Lastly there is a manual (operating instructions) if anyone care a copy let me know...

Congrats that table looks really sweet. I like these tables. The more I listen the more I am sold on them. I sold a Regha 3 and a Dual CS 5000 I will not sell my old Sansui. Price does not always mean better.

I have never seen platters like these things have on them. The tone arm and platter alone is worth the price.

i have to agreed on that, more over these is a beast, look inside and you know what i mean. HUGE MOTOR, HUGE CAPACITOR....... after polishing and etc.. not enff time to hook up and get rock n roll. Wonder how it will sound on the first firing up. will do it tmr.

I have both the 4050C and the SR838. My 4050C spins a bit slow, so needs repair, but sounds good. The SR838, is superior sounding, that said.

I would love to have a SR-717 and have been looking for a while but can’t find any in the US. I found a few in Europe on Ebay but the sellers won’t ship it, even if I pay for it, sadly.
