Sansui SR-4050c Cartridge Upgrade???

thanks for this -- am looking for a replacement stylus for an M91 on my ELAC Miracord 50H.

Any thoughts on matching compliance to the tone arm on that?

An ELAC/Miracord 50H in excellent condition, working smoothly and properly, did fine with a Shure M91ED, Jico styli for the ED are very excellent.

I put an aftermarket stylus on a V15 III , it was an EVG I believe. It was on a cheap table I fixed up for my Daughter. It sounded good but I was not expecting much and never compared it to a better stylus . I would make sure the replacement is at least 2x7 elliptical. I have the Jico SAS on my V15 IV and it is fantastic.
If you can find a m91ed , ED is the elliptical stylus. HE is hyper elliptical, close to a shibata or line contact etc. The G is spherical , might be good for mono. I am sure others will have more info on which aftermarket stylus are good. Sometimes older aftermarket stylus were actually made by shure .

The G is good for mono, if the records are pristine condition (as in NM or better). VG Plus is OK, but it will be detailed enough to make surface flaws audible more so. Best in a lowish mass arm in terms of the V 15 Type II and III line. (the V 15 Type II also can use M 75 stylus options, therefore more versatile).

I always like Shure cartridges with the Sansui TT. Like the M91ed, I have a M97he on my SR2050c and it is stellar . You can find M91's on on ebay for reasonable amounts . You could even improve it a lot with a Jico SAS or other Line contact stylus. V15's are always good too.
I finally purchased a Shure M97he from Ebay, received and installed it today..... It sounds amazing on my SR-4050c. The original Sansui SC-34 cart sounds really good, but the Shure is definitely a major step up. Thanks for the advice!!!!

The M97he is one great sounding cartridge for shure :-)

I know this thread is 4 years old but I had to pipe in since I just snagged the Sansui SR 4050C table in great condition for $150 with the original M91ED cart. The only minor flaws are a cracked dustcover and switches that need some Deoxit. There were some questions in this thread on the Bliss stylus; I'm happy to report the 761-DED Bliss elliptical .3x.7mil was great out of the box from Turntable Needles. I'm running it thru my recapped Dynaco SCA-80Q amp, DIY Parts Express C-Note speakers and sub-woofer in my office setup. The detailed, full and fat sound (as described by billyz ) coming from this TT is amazing. I am truly in love with this TT and it's elegant design.
