Sansui SR-838 headshell socket replacement

The Sansui SR-838 turntable I just acquired is missing the screw/fastener that holds the headshell tonearm socket in the tone arm tube. Also, when I try to mount the headshell, one of the loose socket pins pushes back into the tone arm tube and does not seat. I have the original Sansui azimuth adjustable headshell and I want to keep it.

I need to replace/upgrade the headshell tonearm socket or find a used tone arm that I canscavenge the socket from. I’m thinking now would be a good time to upgrade the headshell socket and wiring for better performance … guidance?

Question 1: Does anyone know what newreplacement headshell socket (with screw) would work as a direct replacement for the original SR- 838 tonearm socket?

Question 2: Does anyone know what other Sansui (or other brand) turntable tonearms use the same tonearm tube length/diameter? Maybe I can scavenge the socket or tube assembly with socket over to the SR-838.

If that's a S shaped arm I think they're all the same length and diameter on vintage TT's

You should be able to clean up the arm tube end where the pins are and I'm thinking a regular Technics type headshell would probably work - you can get a nice cheap one from KABUSA for 12 bucks (I have a cartridge on one - it works just fine.)

There should be some posts regarding the pins on this site probably associated with the Technics - they look very similar.

Here is just the first one I pulled up, there are less expensive examples to be found,
Simply re-wire your arm with a new or replacement coupler w/or without new leads.

Pretty certain the 636 has the arm as the 838

I just posted a similar issue involving my Sansui SR 636's head shell tonearm socket.

Does this look salvageable or will I need to locate a replacement socket and rewire the tonearm?
