Hi all,

I would like to know your opinion and advice getting one of the above sansui equipement.I was looking for a good tuner and came across with a receiver G-5700 and a tuner TU-7700.I was planning to hook up the tuner to my sansui au-777.The price range for both is around the same but i would want the best tuner reception and quality.Does G-5700 will have a better tuner capabilities since its built in with amp or i should go for the TU-7700 for best tuner quality?

Thanks

I want to say that the TU-7700 is better. It is 4-gang, and I'm not sure that the G-5700 tuner is 4-gang. That said, it all depends on how the alignment has suffered over the years. The 7700 is older than the 5700, but it's possible that either would need an alignment to function properly.

The TU-7700 is a tuner. The G-5700 is a receiver, and may expose you to a different sound than the AU-777 is producing. I say go with the G-5700. You may end up liking the later Sansui "DC" sound. If not, you will still have a decent tuner for the AU-7700.
