Hi Guys,


I am a AU 777 user currently planning to get a tuner.I came across with a TU 777 and a T-60 sansui tuner but not sure which one is a good buy.Can you please recommend me which one is a good buy??T-60 is a newer model,does it means it has more modern and more usefull features compare to TU 777..,

I can't tell you if one is better specs wise or not, but I recently grabbed a tu555, one of the little brothers of the 777, and I like it. I don't think there is any extra features on the t60. They also look quite different. I don't know if looks are important to you. I would think the 777 would look better beside your au777.

1st off I have not owned either unit.

I believe the TU-777 was last of the round-dial tuners. You do a search and see comments like "sought after" " not common".

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but the T-60 is an early 80's package or combo-rack line. I haven't seen a T-60 but I have seen the receivers and amps in the same line-up and have not been too impressed with build quality.

I think I would think of it this way:

1) opportunity to own a unit that matches my amp
2) opportunity to own a rather unique model
3) build quality
4) which would I rather spend $ on to fix if needed ... to protect my investment? Also I would imagine the TU-777 is all discrete components while the T-60 may have the odd IC? Are the IC's available if needed?
 
I have both, the T-60 while functional is a bare bones unit, with decent internals but poor build quality.
The TU 777 is a round dial tuner, decent performance, great looks good build quality.
I would expect to pay triple for the 777 vs the 60.
 
hi,as nosirrah said,tu 777 is 4 times the price of a T-60.Will there be any different in reception frequency??as for example it says the frequency range for tu-777 is around 76-90 Hz from a page in audio database?

Does than mean it cannot get frequency over 100,my country frequency range is from 80 to 106.I am frm malaysia.

Thanks for your input,i have always wanted to take the TU 777 but some of the technicians advice not to take old vintage audio equipments because of difficulity of finding parts,Just one general question,What you think about it??Is it hard to get parts to replace for old vintage Equipments (non IC based component) compare to IC based newer Equipments such as a Technics Amplifier,For Example.
