I recently acquired a Sanyo 220 system from my grandparents and I have no clue about the equipment in regards to value/quality and am looking for some education. These are people who would not intentionally push their equipment. I'm not a hardcore audiophile although its always been an interest of mine to a certain degree. The system includes the following Sanyo products: JA 220 Stereo Integrated Amplifier (with manual), JT 220 Tuner , TP 220 turntable (with manual - records work but I didn't inspect the stylus), RD 220 Stereo Cassette Deck (with manual), and a pair of AD 8030 speakers. From what I have gathered so far, these items were not premium products back in the day (approx 1983?) but I have no clue about their quality. I have tested everything with the exception of the record feature on the cassette deck, and it all appears to function correctly. I have not done extensive testing (I have done the equivalent of starting the car and driving it around the parking lot while pushing all the buttons).
The complicating factor is that I already have a silver Yamaha CR420, which I've owned for years which works fine, with the exception of one bulb in the tuner display. I also have an Akai AP100C turntable that I am completely happy with.
Sanyo vs Yamaha/Akai - I don't have the space or need to keep both systems set up, so one would probably end up in storage. I want to keep the Yamaha/Akai out but am torn by the fact that there are so many matching components to the Sanyo system. Looking for opinions and an education on which are the better quality product(s).
