Sanyo amplifier

Walked into a thrift today and I saw a Sanyo amp, "that thing looks sooo cheap." I picked it up and started changing my mind about it, ...metal case, heavy, could see some decent heatsinks in there. $8.99,= one meal at Luby's, so I took it home. Come to think of it, I was hungry, maybe I should have gone to Luby's after all. I'm guessing this might be "OK" when working though, I don't know if it does or not yet. I did see another thread about it, didn't last long. Some pics just for the curious, Sanyo JA 660-2 integrated amplifier.

If I think about all the amplifiers around the world, using the famous "Sanyo STK" modules, I'd say "these guys know something about Audio"...

I had to look up STK mods. I don't know how it sounds yet, I'm going to go hook it up now and see how it goes, could be silence, I saw some dark leads on some connectors, could be the glue used getting hot though. Well here it goes!, will report back later.

Looks like it has a nice transformer in it. Might surprise you! :thmbsp:

It works!, definitely worth $8.99. With a 4020A NAD tuner I hooked it up to, it does have a crisp sound, some might say sliiightly harsh but sounds OK. It sounds better when it's turned up, I actually started laughing a little.

Yeah, I've also gotten enough together, maybe xmas units or something like that for relatives. Or maybe I'm working hard to get on that hoarders show. It's in the garage now, two setups in there, I'll give both of them a workout.
