Sanyo JCX-2900k price?

There's a Sanyo JCX-2900k available at a local shop.

While testing it out a couple weeks back, the left channel cut out a few times. The shop is having their tech go through it to get everything working properly.

Assuming they do a good job with that, what should I expect to pay? Tough one for me to guess on, as they're seemingly uncommon (and I'm new to all of this).

Sanyo doesn't bring much, but they made some very nice units back in the day. Often, they are the sleeper pieces that you can get cheap and truly enjoy. Exact value? That's tough.
 
Perhaps asking about a specific price would help, then. They've got it listed for $325--given the lack of name recognition, that seems a bit steep. I'm thinking I'd be alright if I could get it for $250. But do you think I could do better with $250?
 
True dual mono, rated somewhere between 105 and 120 wpc, and has excellent sound quality. If you're buying for resale, it's probably not a good deal, but if you're buying it as a long-term keeper, I don't think either of your prices are out of line. You'll certainly have one of the more rare and unusual monster receivers.
 
If it was me and I had the money I would give 300 for it if it was in mint condition. If it was recapped and fully serviced I'd give 350. Again that's just me, I like to look for the "different" things. The 2900 is a totl receiver. But I look for the stuff that needs fixed because that's what I like to do.
 
Assuming it works and is in good shape, $325 is a great deal. Sanyo really knew what they were doing, that's why everyone started using their parts (STK amp modules). Of course the 2900 is discrete; even more a reason to get it. :)

I sold a mint 2600K last fall for $300 and a working-but-still-needs-work 2900 this spring for ~$250, FYI.
 
If that reciever had pioneer or Sansui written on it, it would sell for $600 plus quite easily. A real nice machine but you will have a tough time selling it at anything over $250.

It can be a keeper, it is that good .
