I hope somebody will be able to help me out. This is the first time posting for
me. I recently had my Sanyo JCX 2900K repaired after sitting under my work bench in the garage for the last 15 years. The person who repaired the unit did a great job, everything is working like new, but he lost the selecter knob.
I'm sure that a knob off of any of the JCX series would work. If anyone knows of a source for a replacement or someone parting out a non-working unit I would appreciate the info. Please email me at evary34@aol.com Thanx.

evary, I was in your situation when I picked up a kenwood receiver missing several knobs. I ended up finding some non-original knobs that I'm happy with though it's not the 'same'.

I'd would suggest you go give a call to some local stereo repair shops or some electronics shops for some similar knobs. It's probably not easy to find the original but something similar. I got mine from a local electronics shop who had a few boxes of all sorts of old knobs. I still have an extra rectangular knob similar to the ones I use for power/speaker and input selector switch(see pic in the above thread). Let me know if you want this.

Evary, Welcome to AK ! not fair of me to judge Your tech's ability, If Your happy with the fix then fine, Personally I would have found it unacceptable to get the unit returned missing a knob. Your tech knows that one simply doesnt just find these very specific items anywhere. I will have to double check, but I think that the selector knob from any JCX series Sanyo receiver will work, but it would be a miracle to find one outside of buying a parts unit or possibly a much lower powered model, such as a JCX 2100,2300,2400. These can be had for less than a JCX2900, but they are on the rise, like all Vintage units. (skyrocketing) If I find that the knob is not interchangeable with these lower models, I will reply again,and a JCX-2600 would be the only exact match. Hope this helps.
 
Thanks for all the info, its good to know there are people willing to help. When I gave the Tech the unit the only knobs that were not on it were the tuner and volume knobs and I handed those to him personally. I know all the knobs were there. He is looking for it and it may turn up yet, but if it doesn't
then I'm going to hit some thrift stores and pawn shops this weekend. With any luck I hope to find another JCX unit working or not and salvage what parts I can for future use. Plan "B" is what "junior" suggested and find a knob that is close, however I really want to keep the unit original. Thanx again for all the Info. Eric.
