Sanyo Plus Q40 - No Auto Stop

I'm working on fixing up my dad's old Sanyo Q40 TT. He's taken excellent care of it, so most of the mechanism is working very smoothly, however, when the auto-return function is triggered, the platter doesn't stop spinning after the arm returns. If I then manually pick up the arm move it off the stand a bit, and then back, the table turns off properly.

There's little information on how to service this excellent table around, so I was wondering if anyone had an idea of how to remedy this. Thanks!

Welcome to the AK turn table forum.

The "micro switch" that turns on and off the platter maybe malfunctioning in your turn table.

Probably needs to be clean up - harden grease.

You should be able to locate it from the service manual.

Try using the service manual for the Sanyo Q50 for the time being.

Resurrecting this old thread instead of starting a new one since I have this same issue with my Q40. It was unused for many many years. Everything is working well except that the platter continues to spin after the record ends and the arm returns to it's rest. Has anyone successfully solved this issue?
 
I had this issue but managed to solve it with some lubrication of the axes moving the microswitch.
Also i thought that if i started it manually using the cue to lower it, then it should auto stop. But this is not the case. The mechanical loop of this turntable requires using the start button for the auto stop to work correctly.
