Hello, I searched but did not see anything specific to my questions so I am hoping someone may have some thoughts on my issues. I am starting down the path of getting my old gear hooked back up, I miss the warmth of analog music.I have a Sanyo Q40 turntable I bought new way back when that worked like a champ for years. Along came CDs and I got seduced by the shiny discs and the Sanyo has been sitting in storage for a few decades along my other gear. The turntable will start, queue and return fine but the strobe will not light and to me it seems like it is running a tad slow measuring just by sound.
I am totally green when it comes to working on turntables but build computers for a living so I am not technically confused just turntable challenged
on a whim I bought a Fisher MT-6420 at Goodwill for $14 hoping I could just use that instead and it has some issues with the speed control too so I am thinking I just need to get the Sanyo running. (I will tackle the fisher another time).
I think the Sanyo is well built and a great turntable but I would love to get the experts opinions...is fixing the speed and strobe issue beyond what it is worth? Are there any specific things to look at to see if I can fix it?
I also can't find a manual on the web so does anyone know where I may get one, maybe schematics?
Thank you in advance for any help getting this old friend back up and running I would LOVE to spin some records and show my 14 yr old what his generation is truly missing!
