Sanyo Q60 spins way too fast

Hello

I recently got my hands on a Sanyo Q60 direct drive turntable, that hasn't been playing records for about 20 years. I had to replace the cartridge, and to solder some new RCA-phono plugs on it before i could test it.

First test and i becomes clear that the motor is spinning way too fast. I have no idea what could be causing this. I have checked the service manual but that is a tad to cryptic to me.

It doesn't help to adjust the pitch or change the RPM setting. In fact if i select 45RPM and press start the platter won't even begin to spin.
When i want to stop playing, the engine doesn't stop right away either. Actually i can unplug the power cord and the platter stil rotates. it will stop eventually though it just takes a long time for it to slow down. I would think that it should stop shortly after i press the stop button.

I tried to clean some of the parts inside, but that didn't help.

I've also uploaded some pictures that shows the inside of the turntable. I don't quite know what the batteryhouse under the platter is for. Any ideas? Doesn't seem to have any influence on the spinning, as it ditn't make any difference to put in batteries.

I have a Technics SL-5350 that started doing that. I looked for broken solder joints on the circuit board under the center motor board and found that cracked solder joints made it so the system could not tell what speed the platter was rotating at. After I reflowed the broken solder joints the problem went away.

Hello I have a Sanyo plus Q 60 turntable also I've been having it since 1980 and it just did with yours was doing he just started spinning too fast can it be fixed if so can you help

Check and make sure solder joints are good. Make sure your power supply is outputting correct voltages, as incorrect voltages throw the Quartz lock off due to not being correctly referenced. Get the service manual and schematics if possible. Other possibilities might be defective motor or defective speed control IC. Most of the time, if speed switches, pitch pots, and pitch trimpot contacts are clean, the turntable will usually work. Check those first. As those can make the turntable do this behavior.
