Sanyo TP 600SA help needed

I picked up a Sanyo TP 600 SA turntable from the original owner. He replaced the belt and cart before he put it up for sale. However, I've determined that it is running abit slow. So I need help with my next step. I tried to get the platter off, but it does not lift off. Is there a trick to getting the platter off this model?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
