Just curious about this pair of technics . Model is sb-2745. I know technics had some really good stuff and some really mundane stuff. Any info is appreciated as I believe I may pick this pair up from a friend. Really dont know why I am overloaded with equipment as it is. Thanks in advance.

I am leaning towards mundane. The drivers resemble those in several pairs currently gathering dust on my back porch. The cheap silver plastic embellishments around the drivers are to try and please the eye while the ears cry. Just my opinion though. :D

These speakers would serve well for garage/party duty. Just don't expect to be overjoyed by the musical clarity.

I was thinking alike. I remember my first real stereo was a technics rack system I bought at Boscovs around 87-88 . It was loud , which at the time was most important to me. It actually didnt sound bad. I think I paid close to a grand maybe $1,200 back then. Of course I went and bought the next size up speakers they had at the time . Huge woofer, there "Loud speakers". I was happy then. That rack was better then the stuff my friends were buying. Stuff like Akai , JcPenny and Sears racks. Everyone sold a crappy rack system around that time. Most were just plain junk. I think Technics at least made a lil effort. Most of the others , including Sony and Pioneer should have been ashamed! But hey,it was all about the Benjamins baby!
