SC-3330 help

couch-flyer

Never tasted lutefisk
I just replaced the capstan belt on a SC-3330 cassette deck. The problem I am having is that the capstan motor runs at varying speeds. The deck records and plays but at varying speeds. Quit irritating. Is it time for a new capstan motor or is there a way to overhaul it?

Thanks,

The motor speed control pot may be dirty. It's usually located behind a hole in the rear of the motor on most cass. decks. Work it back and forth. To "tune" it, record a CD on a known good cassette deck. Play the tape back in the Sansui along with the CD track. Adjust until they're at the same pitch.

B3Nut, I tried that, no go. What I noticed is that when a cassette tape is instrted in the deck, the capstan motor doesn't spin without a little help. I checked to see if there is any interference and there is none. Once the motor is running it takes a bit of time to run at its top speed. Then it will vary in speed.

Thanks,

I think you must check the voltage provision of the motor, and then the voltage in the pin "order" play at TC9121 IC in the right side. (+/-4,5 volts when push play botton)
