Schiit Aegir - anyone here use one ?

Hey folks, does anyone here use a Schiit Aegir? Any opinion of them?

I’m thinking of picking one up to power a pair of Dayton PS220-8 drivers. If those speakers don’t work out for me, the Aegir could just power some tweeters in a bi-amped setup. Wanted to get some opinions of the Aegir before buying..

That’s too bad. It seems to be a reasonably priced amp that runs heavily in class A.
Not everyone is interested in nothing but old stuff, you know. Besides, I already have enough old stuff...

I believe this is a Stereophile class A rated amp.
If I was on a budget and in the market for an amp, I would be all over it. IMHO

I run a pair of Aegir’s monoblock driving a pair of JBL L100t’s (not to be confused with the lowly but popular L100s). The sound is absolutely fantastic. Imaging is superb. Sounds better than my Yamaha M40 (125 watts) which can also do pure Class A for ~10 watts or so.

While I understand that they still run hot, I’m sure an Aegir will be sucking less juice than my old Krell. Love the sound of the Krell, but it’s not a good summer amp and I’m sure all the power it makes would be a waste for two 8 ohm drivers..

Been running one for a couple months and I'm very happy with it. I agree with hornbostel that the sound is fantastic. It's smooth and resolving. There's no grain or hardness to the sound. Female vocals are pure and natural and the best of any solid state amp that I've heard. Bass is lighter than most other solid state amps that I've heard. The image is tall and wide but not especially deep. The treble is extended and sparkly, but not at all piercing.

It does get warm. I just used an infrared thermometer to measure 112 degrees F on the cooling fins after about an hour of use in a 78 degree F room.

Keep in mind that it only puts out 20wpc into 8 ohms.

It is currently powering a set of Vandersteen 1C. The DAC / preamp is a Benchmark HGC2.
