Score! $400 Klipsch La Scala

No. Actually, it's to take it closer to the Jubilee at a fraction of the cost.

When some home owners first bought the 2-way (actively crossed) Jubilee for home use (I was an early adopter), some dummy (ummm...that's me) asked Roy about slapping a K402 on top of a LaScala to use as a center channel.

He mulled it around, said he thought it should work. About a year later, he rolled out what some have dubbed (I dubbed it) the JubeScala.

Same downside deficiency as the LaScala since it's the bass bin but it blends well and plays in an entirely new league than the stock speaker.

If you're going to flip them, then I doubt it would be worth your time/effort.

Roy's creation at the Klipsch listening lab in Hope a number of years ago. This is the huge K402. I'm using the smaller K510, "the little horn that could"

Though I must say, the larger horn is better.

Just because I have yet to see a solid estimate, how much would it cost to convert to the K402 or K510?

I have put these up on Atlanta Craigslist with a fairly high price ($2000) or best offer just so if someone is truly interested in these they can work out a deal with me. That should give me some time to play around with these, maybe do some relatively simple upgrades like the ported bass box and figure out if I really want to keep them. A pair of the homeowner La Scala in terrible shape sold for $1200 locally so I am hoping I can finance a set of Monitor Audio speakers and a nice amp or three.

The K402's are "about" $1,200 each. This amount, gets you the horn lens, the driver, the mounting tray that it will stand on. It is literally "open box, lift out, set on speaker, plug in and play"

I'm guessing the 510's are "about" 700 each (but I do not know that since I bought 402's and the single 510 I have, I bought used without any drivers (since I already had a TAD-4002 for it)

I didn't realize you're in Atlanta. If you ever get north, I'm approximately 3 hours from you. You would be welcome to give a listen and comparison to:

Jubilee with K402 on top (actively crossed)
JubeScala with K402 on top (actively crossed)
JubeScala with K519 on top (actively crossed)
Stock 1979 LaScala (stock drivers) with ALK extreme slope passive crossover installed

If you have the time and want to go balls to the wall, I'll roll my MWM bass bins out of the garage and we can go nuts for a bit. (actively crossed)

You think they smell bad; I bought a weightbench from a coupla smoker-twekerz. The meth adds this INCREDIBLY strong sharp ammonia-like pungent edge to your regular old stanky nicotene!!!

Those look insane. Seems like you could desperately use another set, I have mine for $1500 on Craigslist now.

Thought I would revive this thread to say:
The Pioneer CS-9900 make some competent mid-fi speakers. Not as good as my Bose 10.2 (which I blew a driver in when my amp went bad :( so I have to try to fix that) but worked pretty well in my throw together home theater setup and decently well in my office setup (not as immersive as the 10.2 since I can't point the driver's at my ears while sitting at the desk). They passed the organ test thanks to that 15 inch woofer but you will probably want a sub for movies. They are going into my parent's system and I won't put crap into their system so I guess I would say I recommend them if you ever have the chance to buy them.
