Craig's List find. It doesn't have a cartridge but I have a couple of vintage guys I'll try with it. Also seller said it didn't shut off at the end of a record so it sounds like it might need a pimplemeister or whatever you call that little rubber thingy. Looking forward to working on it but in the mean time my basement flooded so it will have to wait until that mess gets cleaned up.

Nice find. Sorry it doesn’t have the cart. Does it have the sled for 1/2” carts?

Well when I can wade through all the boxes I had to move I'll get some. As far as the headshell (sled? I'm new to that term ), it comes off and takes 1/2" carts so I'm in good shape there.

It's in great shape too. One noticablle mark in the lid but otherwise in really nice condition. Includes changer spindle and 45 adapter too.
 
You did well. The stuerpimple (clutch) isnt to hard to replace. Have a spare I can send you....PM me with your address.

Pretty unit. Reminds me of my Dual 506 a little.

Looks like it is missing the cartridge sled. That's the part that the cartridge mounts on and then the whole thing clips into the headshell. Might be a bit challenging to find a replacement, but I'm sure they are out there.
 
Looks like I can get a new sled for about $40. not terrible.

So I'm trying to decide what cartridge to use. I have vintage Signet TK3ea and Shure M95HE sitting in the basement. Both should have new stylus. The Signet is actually an AT cart that's souped up and I can get a new stylus for around $60 or the Shure tip is around $100. So now I've got somewhere between $120 and $160 invested in a table that doesn't work correctly. Not so much of a score after all.:( What cartridge would you go with?

It adds up doesn't it? I find that refurbing these Duals while not overly expensive does costs a bit when you need specific parts.

Given that you have two good carts, I'd also consider the weight of each. I am pretty sure these Dual's prefer the lighter carts. You might find that you need to add additional weight to the counterweight to get a zeroed balance when setting up the new cart. I'm not positive, but just letting you to know to be aware of the possibility. This is particularly true of the ones with the ULM arm of which I'm not sure about if yours is one.

Just buy an inexpensive AT 3600 cartridge for $12.00 - no shipping and you are all set. :)

The Signet cartridges are very nice - miss my TK7A. The TK3ea takes the Audio Technica ANT120 stylus, and you can get a genuine one for $56 from the Voice of Music. Folks who would know say it is the equivalent of the original stylus - in this thread.

I feel like the table will give me a lot more with a better cartridge. Im willing to put up the money for a decent one. Or for about the same money i can get a Grado Black or an AT something or other but haven't done all the research yet. I live close to The Needle Doctor so that has been my go-to for turntable parts.
