As I have mentioned in a few other posts, my search for toilet paper has mostly been unsuccessful. Back in late March I got a pack of Scott 1000 sheet single ply. As many commented, this is rough stuff. After 7 fruitless weeks of searching (Target, 2 Walgreens, a CVS, Office Depot, Staples, Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot and 2 grocery stores and online), I got a 12 pack of White Cloud.

It was just in time. We had two rolls of Charmin left that we were stepping on with the Scott to around 50%. It has not been pleasant. On a scale of 1 to 10, with the Scott being a 1 and the Charmin being a 10, the White Cloud is a solid 6. Not great, but pretty good. We're happy campers.

Also, via an old friend, who is the facilities manager where I worked before I retired, I got a gallon of ASC 99% isopropyl alcohol, a gallon of Type II lab water, a gallon of the liquid Dial soap we use and a 50 count box of ASTM level 2 masks. Also, I got two head carriers and 2 face shields. Goldmine.

Am I bragging? Maybe just a bit. Being unable to find anything around here or online for 7 weeks has frustrating and depressing.

I've been buying all our meat and canned goods through a mom and pop restaurant for the last 4 weeks as both grocery stores near here have had a total of two pounds of ground beef, 1 chuck roast and 1 sirloin steak over the course of 3 weeks. Forget any canned goods - the shelves have wiped. We did get a pack of Fig Newtons.

I almost forgot, we got a 2 roll pack of double size Bounty paper towels - with Full Size sheets! Not that select-a-size crap. Jeez, I hate those things, but that's what we've had for a month - some "Sparkle" brand junk.

Life is good again. I hope that some of you have had similar good fortune. We're ready to fully isolate when the wider reopening occurs.

Cheers

Congrats! It took me several weeks to find decent toilet paper as well. The only thing I've still not been able to find is hand sanitizer, though I'm not currently in danger of running out.

P.S. - Thank you for the correct spelling of the thread title. :D

Starting about 2 weeks ago, paper supplies are available as usual here. I was, even when toilettpaper was hard to find, always able to find some kind of TP.

I also had no problem getting 5 liters of ethanol from an online chemical supplier about 6 weeks ago. Masks are also readily available.

Overall, the situation here in Germany hasn´t been that bad :)

I go to a lower tier grocery store for the things you have a hard time finding at the big box stores. They've always had what I needed as far as paper products and pretty much everything else I needed. Might not be my favorite brand but some of the store brands have been very good. I bought a jar of Kroger brand sweet relish. It was so bad I tossed it where as bought a jar of their restaurant style dill chips and they were outstanding.

I guess it's an American thing - everything is super-sized so I guess we crap more on a per capita basis. Lots of questionable masks here and face coverings of unknown efficacy seem to be around. Actual "good stuff" is still ephemeral or profiteer priced.
Glad to hear things aren't too bad there. I'm still baffled by the fact that I can't find a single can of chopped turnip greens after 6 weeks. I didn't think anybody but me ate those things. Who knew?

Cheers
