Scored Another KLH Model Eleven Suitcase At The Fleamarket!

Went to the flea market yesterday looking for records and ended up buying a nice KLH Model Eleven suitcase for $25.00.

After a good cleaning, lube and stylus replacement with a Stanton N400. This classic portable stereo, designed by the great Henry Kloss, is making sweet music once again!

This is the second Model Eleven I've run across in the last few years. It appears to be an earlier model than my original 66' suitcase. The turntable seems to be a transition between the original Garrard AT-6 and the later 3000 that were used. It has the black rubber mat with Garrard logo(Type A, AT6), that inserts around a metal collar and a larger headshell than my original.

Outside of some basic cleaning, lube and a stylus swap. It really didn't take to much to get this KLH suitcase working and playing properly. These portables still amaze me with the sound they can produce! That said...instead of re-selling it, I'm thinking of giving it to my Dad for Father's Day.....I'm sure he'll enjoy spinning his collection of LPs on it!
