Scored my Cit II

I finally got my Cit II deal done that I was asking about a few weeks back . In total , I got , the Citation II , Dynaco Pas-2 , Dynaco FM-1 with mpx , a custom made cabinet for everything , and a mint set of AR3's . The dynacos have all the original tubes . I brought the pre and amp up on a variac , they run good no hums or popping :music: . I already have the Pas-2 torn apart and getting ready to order up some caps for it . The Cit II is on the bench waiting for its turn also . I may post a question on the pas 2 , as to which direction I should go with that .

So , how's my scroe rate ? :scratch2:

I missed my HK-V the day after I sold it & the II was such a Classic.Sure got you motivated to get the pre-amp re-capped!
Its such a Classic looking amp! Definitely a keeper!

that citation II to the ar3's, with tube pre should bring tears of joy to your eyes when you have it all sorted.

Congratulations on the wonderful finds!

It looks like you got a later production Cit II, the aluminum face plate is a tip off. If it's the latest model you'll see it has a number of small ventilation holes on the top plate between the power tubes and the 12BY7As. And it'll have a small rectangular meter in the back.

If you need any help on the Deuce I'll be happy to pitch in!

Jim McShane's rebuild kits are definately the way to go for Citation tube gear. Everything you need, good quality and fairly priced. It's too bad other brands don't have a resource like Jim.

No connection, other than as a satisfied customer.

If your Citation II has not had it's trannies repainted yours has to be one of the nicest condition Citation IIs I've ever seen.

You won't regret picking it as well as the other stuff up, that's for sure!

Some nudes ..... :D

I know this was taken in regularly for service and general/preventive maintenance . Always to the same guy who ran a shop on Woodward Ave. ( maybe some of the local SMAC guys may know where ) . My neighbor has all the documents and paperwork for the units , his father kept them all , he just needs to find where he put them .

It still amazes me how the older generation took such good care of there stuff in general . I guess living thru the depression makes you truly appreciate the value of a dollar . This gear is a perfect example of this , the stuff is truly pristeen . I didn't clean the inside of the Citation II , thats how I got it . :thmbsp:

Nope , they have never been repainted . It spent it's entire life inside this cabinet that his brother built for him .cab1.jpg

That's some nice gear you have, congrats! :thmbsp: If you've never used Jim McShane before, I'll give him another recomendation. I rebuilt a Citation I preamp with his help, and I was very happy with the parts & service, he knows his stuff. :smoke:

Lots of great recommendations for Jim , and not just in this post from what I have seen . I have been checking out his site since I first thought I may be getting the Deuce :D . I am planning on sourcing just about everything from him . :thmbsp:

Thanks for all the great comments BTW . I cant wait to get this thing going . May take some time though , as it looks like it will be around a grand to do a proper resto on her . It will have to get done as money allows . Thats one nice thing about Jim McShane's products , you can do it in stages . I'm just glad I had enough money squirreled away in my " bachelor fund " to buy the gear . :yes:
