Scott 222D Center Channel

DaLarry

The Elder Geek
Do you HH Scott guys use the center channel on your amps? If so, what kind of speaker; full range, subwoofer or what? Right now My 222D is driving a pair ADS L 1230's and they're not going anywhere. However, idle curiosity is gnawing at me. Any thoughts, ideas, experiences, or suggestions? Let me know.

I've got a LK48 rather than a 222, but I think it's close enough for conversation.

I use the center out to feed a powered subwoofer. It took a little dialing in like anything else, but once I got the levels right, it works perfectly.

Years ago I had a Scott 340B receiver with center channel out. I used the center channel for a subwoofer. I used an old University cabinet, with the mid and tweeter disconnected. Main speakers were Optimus 1's.:thmbsp:

If it is to be use for stereo (and modified) I recommend ripping the center channel and it's mile and a half of wire out.:D Same on Fishys.:music:

I haven't looked on my 222B, but looking at the schematic, does alllllllll that wire and resistors and capacitors that are hooked to the cathode in the driver tube mess'n with my music? Thats not cool if it does. :nono:

Generally speaking, Jay and I usually see eye to eye. Unfortunately, not this time. Sure, the extra amout of wire in there affects things like picking up signals bouncing around inside the chassis; but, c'mon. . . the levels are incredibly insignificant and the end result is a completely moot point in nearly every case.

I use the Derived Ctr Chan Level for a subwoofer on my Scott LK72-A; a SONY SA-WM250.

So I've gathered that I can use the center channel output for a subwoofer. That's awesome! I've been looking for a 2.1 system for exactly that. Turns out I have one. Is there anything I should be aware of in doing this? I assume I'll have to tune the subwoofer level to match my speaker volume. When that is done will the master volume control both?
