Hey guys could use some advice on the can caps for this really nice integrated.

Here are the five caps :

1) 100uf-75v / 100uf-75v / 10uf-75v

2) Same as (1)

3) 20uf-450v / 20uf-450v / 25uf-25v / 25uf-25v

4) 40uf-500v / 40uf-500v

5) 40uf-500v / 20uf-500v / 25uf-25v

For cans 1 and 2 can I use 100/100@500v cans from F+T? It's a big jump in voltage rating but will work well with the 10uf mounted underneath the chassis. Can't seem to find any can caps around 75v rating.

Can 3 I was thinking a 32/32@500 can with two 33uf/50v caps underneath.

Can 4 how about a 50/50@500v F+T can

Finally Can 5 get a 40/20/20@500 leaving one 20uf section out of circuit and a 33uf-50v under the chassis

Any ideas? Sound good at all? Thanks in advance for any help :D

Hi,
Try Antique Electronic supply they have them I'm sure they have the 100uf@100v
caps and others as well, plus there another place that I'm sure some else will tell you
about, I forgot the name but they build them from scratch and there really good.

I put all the can cap caps underchassis on my 299B. much less work and worked excellent.
Left the old cans with caps inside attached but completely de-wired from the circuit.
Looked orig that way.
AES is a super market for most Rs and Cs for our projects and I use then extensively.

Thank you guys! Exactly what I was looking for. I'll post part numbers when I place the order.

You may have to re-stuff the 100uf ones to get close to the original voltage, or maybe custom jobs from Hayseed Hamfest. My Sherwood used a bunch of oddball voltages and I ended up rebuilding the cans. Its a process that I dislike very much, but sometimes its all you have.

Um... aren't those two 100uf/100uf/10uf can caps Com Positive?

What 299 version is it?

That cap compliment is a bit different than what I found on my 1958 299A.

For my 299A I used a 20/20/20/20 @ 475v cap from CE Dist and just fit the remaining caps under the chassis.

1 and/or 2 are probably positive grounded (bias)...

In my LK-72, I've used JJ's cans and some caps (the 25uf) under the hood...

For bias, 4 caps under the hood.

Patrice, I did the same thing as you. I found the JJ caps worked well above the chassis and in place of the "Can-Grounded" versions....but where a + can was needed, I just used axials underneath. Just as a side note, I've had very good luck with these JJ can caps.....and used then now in a LOT of projects and repairs. Have not had the first failure yet (knock on wood)...and they seem to function perfectly. I've had to 'fudge' some values, and tie a few sections together from time to time to get what I was looking for....but.... 'hey'.....for being 50 years later and still finding 'suitable' parts..... I'm pretty happy. Not to mention that the price is right! Some of the OE types I see running $40, $50, $60 and even more? With the JJ version at under $10.....and working perfectly.... I have to put 'function' and 'value' ahead of 'authenticity' on my budget. FWIW. WC
