Looking at the picture - your only option is to dump this thing and buy a new transformer, unless you want ticking bomb in your room and have fire extinguisher ready.
I suspect that output transformers can be in the same poor shape. I would check them too.
yup pay the $100 or so and get a new transformer you are not going to get any longevity out of that mess no matter what you do. Don't waste your time like is to short.
Call up Heyboer in Michigan and tell them you want a HH Scott 222C transformer you will need to use the mounting hardware from the original to side mount it. All the Scott 7189 based amplifier will work just fine with the same power transformer model.
