Scott 340-B Stereomaster - just picked up

I received a phone call from a woman who said she had a Scott "stereo console" that she got from Lafayette Electronics in Syosset, NY where she worked for many years. She told me that she told the guys in the stereo room that she wanted a stereo console and asked them to put one together for her.

Sounded interesting.

I went over to her house and she had a 5 foot long console with a Scott 340-B receiver and a Miracord 10H turntable. The console was a generic brand and weighed about 200 pounds (of course in the basement). I asked if I could just take the electronics and she said sure. It took about 2 minutes to remove both. The console was ugly - center doors with speakers built in on the end. I need to go back and see what type of speakers they used. I'll have to remove about 15 screws on each side to get at them. The turntable was mounted in a pull out drawer.

They had the receiver turned on when I arrived (which I didn't want) but at least it was working.

The receiver is completely original including the 4 Scott 7591A's and the remainding tubes either Scott or Telefunken.

I gave her $50.

If this had been a total Scott console (which I don't think they made) I wouldn't have just taken the electronics.

Now I just have to clean it up. I did find the knob caps inside the console.

I'm surprised you didn't burrow into the cabinet for the speakers right then, but when I look at your equipment sig it looks like you're fairly well equipped already.

Depending on the furniture style, I'm betting you should have taken the cabinet. Probably something nice like Barzilay or Acousticraft.

I've had a 340B for about 15 years, they are very nice receivers with a good FM section, do a search on upgrading/restoring for safe and dependable operation.
